Great interview with Chris Scalley. He's an ultra-experienced fly fishing guide and owner of River Through Atlanta, a guide service specializing in fly fishing and light tackle trips on the beautiful Chattahoochee River. People have no idea what a gem this river is, and we talk about just how much has gone into making it a destination trout stream in the Southeast. Dreaming of New Zealand or Chile for huge Browns? Jump on the interstate and drive down to Atlanta to a world-class stream that Trout Unlimited has recognized in its Top 100 trout streams. Hope you enjoy the interview. Tight lines.

12/14/2017 0 Comments Casey from Magnolia Point Co.,: Hunting with a flusher and a pointer, how to start a clothing brand, and water fowling in AR!
I chat with Casey from Magnolia Point Co, a hunting lifestyle brand. They make and offer hunting gear, dog gear, apparel, and more. If you've ever thought about starting up your own outdoor apparel brand, better listen to this to see what it takes! Casey is a native Georgian and a solid Southern gent. Was great to chat with him--have a listen!
11/28/2017 0 Comments SRG.004 Shane Bevel and hunting Texas and Oklahoma quail behind his Llewellin Setters
A lot of great ground covered in this one! I chat with Shane about quail hunting in his native Texas and Oklahoma, the string of setters he's owned, advice about selecting a pup, and the ethics of anti-hotspotting while getting your start in the sport. Shane also gives me a primer on field trialing, a topic of which I know next to nothing before our conversation. Enjoy (listen below or through your favorite podcast player), and as always, please rate, review, and subscribe!

A great conversation with Scott Lindars, of Marshdoodle. He's bringing a lot of exposure to upland hunting in, of all places, Florida. He and his Brit pursue unique species in the low-lying public land down there. But apparently the pursuit of Snipe is not limited to Florida or even the South. The Snipe is truly a national--and even international--game bird.
Have a listen! As always, please rate/review/subscribe! -John
Great chat with fly-fishing guide Captain Pete Rowney, of Islamorada On The Fly. I went on a flats boat trip with Pete a few years ago, and it was an experience I'll never forget. Take the beauty of the Florida Keys, the solace and distinctive landscape of Everglades National Park, and a myriad of fishing opportunities, and you've got the makings for a fantastic fly-fishing destination. Pete talks with me about the fly-fishing opportunities off Islamorada that he provides on his 17' Maverick flats boat, which can get into some pretty skinny water. Great guide, great episode. Listen and enjoy!
I talk with Noah Smith, an intern for the Ruffed Grouse Society, about grouse hunting in Western North Carolina. Noah and his beautiful Llewellin Setter, Jeb, took me out this past winter for some late season grouse. We only went out for a short time, but Jeb had us pointed on birds quick! Noah knows his stuff about hunting and managing the forests responsibly in order to promote early successional growth--the type of habitat needed by grouse and many other species in the Mountain South. I think you'll enjoy this one.
